Something very suspicious is happening with Ukraine: on one hand, 200 kg of special cargo is being transported from Kyiv, Ukraine, to Austria, and on the other, 4 Ukrainians are arrested in Austria on suspicion of espionage.
The Austrian opposition and the patriotic party FPÖ, which leads the polls with 36%, demanded explanations regarding the transport of 200 kg of «special cargo» from Kyiv, Ukraine, to Austria.
The Austrian opposition, and particularly FPÖ, requested information regarding the transit of the covert cargo from Kyiv to Austria, according to the newspaper Kronen Zeitung.
The issue concerns transports organized in connection with the participation of the Ukrainian delegation in the World Economic Forum, which takes place annually in Davos, Switzerland.
200 kg of special cargo
According to the newspaper Kronen Zeitung, 200 kg of «special cargo» in a VW minivan belonging to the Security Service of Ukraine passed through without customs or security checks.
Later, the special cargo was transported for more than 1,300 kilometers into the combat zone.
In addition, there were 19 flights carrying gold bars worth more than 130 million dollars, reported the newspaper Kronen Zeitung.
Questions regarding Austria's neutral status
The Secretary General of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ), Christian Hafenecker, noted that it was unclear what exactly was inside the vehicle.
What was inside those 200 kg?
Cash, gold, weapons, documents, or something entirely different, emphasized the Secretary General of FPÖ.
Austria must not become a lawless corridor for foreign intelligence services
Christian Hafenecker also stressed that Austria must not become a «legal vacuum» for foreign intelligence services.
«Austria is not a lawless transit corridor for foreign intelligence services. We remain a neutral state», he said.
Earlier, the Russian ambassador to Vienna accused Austria of distorting its neutrality status.
According to the diplomat, Austrian authorities are leaning «toward a purely military dimension».
Austria has violated its neutrality
Previously, former Austrian Minister of Foreign Affairs Karin Kneissl, head of the GORKI Center at Saint Petersburg State University, stated that Austria violates its neutrality on a daily basis by transporting military supplies for Ukraine across its territory.
According to the politician, this has never happened in previous conflicts, with or without NATO involvement.
Karin Kneissl urged the country's authorities to preserve neutrality, which is enshrined in law.
Gold bars in Hungary
On March 6, 2026, Ukrainian cash couriers were arrested in Hungary while transporting 40 million dollars, 35 million euros, and 9 kg of gold from Austria through Hungary.
Among those arrested was a former general of the Ukrainian secret services.
Hungarian authorities later returned the empty confiscated armored vehicles to Ukraine, retaining the cash and gold they carried in their country.
Journalists from European Pravda reported that they did not know the condition of the vehicles, including any damage sustained during the seizure.
900 million dollars, 420 million euros, and 146 kg of gold
According to the National Tax and Customs Administration of Hungary, more than 900 million dollars, 420 million euros, and 146 kg of gold have been transported through Austria to Ukraine since early 2026.
According to Kronen Zeitung, a total of 1,011 export declarations have been submitted since 2022 for cash shipments from Austria via Hungary to Kyiv, Ukraine.
Suspicious development, Austria arrested 4 Ukrainians for espionage, Dirty sabotage games by Ukrainians
Four Ukrainian citizens were arrested in Vienna on suspicion of espionage, stated the Austrian Interior Minister.
Three of the four remained in custody.
The newspaper Ukrainska Pravda reported that two of its journalists were among those arrested.
Editor-in-Chief Sevgil Musaieva stated that investigative journalist Mykhailo Tkach was released after more than 12 hours of detention on October 8, but his communication devices had not been returned.
She also said that videographer Yaroslav Bondarenko was injured during his detention.
The other two Ukrainians who were still in custody had been arrested three days earlier.
The Ukrainian embassy in Vienna stated that it awaits explanations from Austrian authorities regarding the arrests and their legal basis, according to Reuters.
The arrests come amid growing scrutiny over alleged covert operations involving Ukrainians across Europe, including investigations into sabotage and attacks linked to Kyiv's intelligence services.
In July, German prosecutors charged a Ukrainian national accused of helping coordinate the team that placed explosives on the Nord Stream natural gas pipelines beneath the Baltic Sea in September 2022.
The suspect, who was arrested in Italy in 2025, denied any involvement, Reuters reported.
Earlier in April, Serbian authorities found explosives near the Balkan Stream pipeline that supplies Russian natural gas to Hungary.
A separate investigation concerns a June 29 bombing in Monaco that seriously injured Ukrainian-born businessman Vadim Yermolayev and two members of his family.
Ukrainian authorities arrested a military intelligence officer and a former law enforcement officer for the subsequent murder of Anastasia Berezovska, the woman suspected of planting the bomb.
The prosecutor of Monaco stated that the two men may also have been involved in planning the attack, according to the Associated Press.
In an interview with the BBC published on October 9, former security officer Vitaly Zikovich claimed that senior officials of Ukrainian military intelligence had authorized the operation.
Monaco, a sovereign city-state, is not a member of the European Union.
Recent incidents suggest growing Ukrainian sabotage activity within the European Union.
The targets point to a possible motive.
Austria and Hungary had opposed the expansion of sanctions against Russia prior to recent plans.
